Portreath Monkey Hut

Description

Portreath in Cornwall is one of the nearest beaches from home. The monkey hut in the picture is a magnet for photographers and whenever a storm brews you can be sure to find a number of them competing for space around the space that provides this view. This was September 2018 when I'd just changed to a new camera. I took a number of handheld images using my 70-200mm lens with a fast shutter speed, and had no idea which ones had worked until I got home later on. I especially loved this one because of the detail in the droplets as yet another wave crashed into the end of the granite pier. The monkey hut was destroyed by storms in the winter of 2014 and had to be rebuilt at a cost of £250,000 so I'm told.
